Summary of the Mentoring Project - Understanding to Develop
Apr 15, 2023

The Mentoring Project - Understanding to Develop is a community project founded by the F9 generation of students in Ho Chi Minh City. With the spirit of "understanding", we are here to support 12th-grade students in their mental well-being and provide them with valuable experiences just before one of their biggest milestones: University life.
In contrast to many other career-oriented programs that help students access general information about the labor market and employment opportunities, our goal is to help students to understand themselves in the first place. In addition to that, participants will be able to access information tailored exclusively for each one of them (facilitated by registered Mentors, with the help of the project team). This approach empowers students’ ability to understand themselves and proactively seek information, enabling them to make informed decisions for themselves.
After over three months of dedicated work, the project successfully organized a talk show attended by nearly 100 final-year high school students. Additionally, our team engaged in direct conversations with over 80 students and organized 50 one-on-one sessions, sharing experiences regarding university and major selection by “the seniors”, who have gone before them, thereby, aiming to motivate 12th-grade students choosing their university and career route.
